Ricorda Music Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters. This policy explains what Ricorda uses, what stays on your device, and when information may be sent to Apple or third-party services to support app features.

1. Music Library and Playback Data

With your permission, Ricorda can access your Apple Music library, playback queue, songs, albums, playlists, stations, play counts, recently played items, and related MusicKit metadata. Ricorda uses this information to power the player, Quick Play, Play Now, Recent, This Day in Your Music, Suggested Songs, Playlist Studio, library filtering, and widgets. This music-library data is primarily stored and processed on your device.

When Sync Listening History with iCloud is enabled, song identifiers, play dates, and Rediscover rotation history sync through your private iCloud database so Ricorda can use them on your devices. Weather, location, playback queues, and widget caches stay on the device. You can turn this sync off in Settings without turning off local listening history.

2. Local App Data

Ricorda may store local preferences and app state such as selected player views, Quick Play choices, widget data, recent sources, download visibility preferences, onboarding state, local feature-usage counts, and local crash diagnostic logs. Deleting the app removes local app data from the device, subject to iOS backup and system behavior.

3. Location, Weather, Calendar, and Reminders

Right Now widgets can use your location to request weather details from Apple Weather through WeatherKit and can use calendar or reminder access to suggest music around tasks and meetings. When Location access has already been granted, Ricorda can also save rounded coordinates and current Apple Weather conditions with your private on-device listening history. This supports features such as recalling music played during similar weather. These features only work after the relevant iOS permission is granted. Location coordinates are sent to Apple to retrieve current conditions and forecasts.

4. Playlist Studio and Suggested Songs

Ricorda may use on-device Apple platform capabilities to create playlist drafts or suggest songs from your current listening context. Prompts, song candidates, and generated results are used to provide the feature and may be stored locally as part of the app experience.

With Ricorda Pro on supported devices, eligible requests can automatically use Apple Private Cloud Compute. These requests may send your playlist prompt, current song, a limited set of Apple Music candidates, and a short summary of your music preferences to Apple for processing. Ricorda falls back to on-device processing when the cloud model is unavailable or its usage limit is reached. Core does not use Private Cloud Compute.

5. Apple, App Store, and Music Services

Apple handles App Store purchases, refunds, Apple Music authorization, MusicKit requests, media playback, and related entitlement checks. Apple may process information according to Apple's own privacy policy and terms.

6. Music Metadata and External Requests

Some views may request public music metadata, artwork, lyrics, song information, or weather data from Apple Music, Genius, Apple Weather, or similar services. To reduce external requests and keep third-party credentials out of the app, Ricorda may send a song title and artist to a Barefoot Apps-hosted metadata service. That service requests public Genius metadata and temporarily caches the result for reuse across Ricorda users. It does not associate music requests with a Ricorda account, device identifier, or advertising identifier. A short-lived one-way hash of the network address may be used to prevent abuse.

7. Usage Analytics and Diagnostics

Ricorda can keep aggregate feature-usage counts and crash diagnostic information locally on your device. Local usage counts use only allowlisted feature, action, and source labels and do not include song names, artists, searches, playlist prompts, location, account identifiers, device identifiers, or install identifiers. Ricorda does not currently upload these local analytics. Diagnostics collection can be turned off in Ricorda Settings, and diagnostic reports are sent to Barefoot Apps only when you choose to email one or more reports. Apple may also provide crash and usage diagnostics through App Store and device settings if you have enabled them.

8. Accounts and Selling Data

Ricorda does not sell your personal data. The core app does not require a Ricorda account. If a future feature introduces account-based sharing or syncing, that feature may have additional notices or choices.

9. Your Choices

You can manage Apple Music, Location, Calendar, Reminders, notification, and tracking permissions in iOS Settings. You can also turn diagnostics collection off, clear stored diagnostic reports, reset onboarding tips, hide download indicators, or delete the app to remove local data from the device.

10. Children

Ricorda is not intended for children under 13.

11. Updates

We may update this policy as Ricorda changes. The effective date will reflect the latest version.
